In the summer of 1995 I was reading Doug
Hofstadter's
Fluid
Concepts and Creative Analogies and fell in love a bit with
the reduced typographic domain of "grid fonts" he studied in
there. I wrote a little C++ to let me edit them on the computer.
Even though the source code to the editor has apparently,
ambifortunately, been lost, I did manage to find a bunch of the
fonts I'd made back then. Below they are rendered from the
original data. (probably the majority are my own work, but it
wouldn't surprise me if I'd transcribed some fonts from
Hofstadter's book - if you happen to notice such a coincidence,
I'd appreciate knowing)
